THE LOST LEGACY OF BILLY GRAHAM

BILLY GRAHAM was president of the board of directors of my seminary. He preached at commencement when many of my friends graduated. I stood next to him (I was awed). Many others were talking to him so I left him alone.

It was during my first year of seminary that Billy chose to no longer endorse politicians because he believed the Great Commission was more important than politics. He refused to endorse the Moral Majority for that reason.

I am grieved for the loss to his family. I am even more grieved that so-called evangelical Christians ignore his great leadership by putting their voice in government above Gospel; self-interest above the souls of others. If we put 1/2 the energy we waste on politics into seeking souls for Christ this nation would be transformed but alas the deception continues. God have mercy on us!
